One of my favorite parts of Christmastime is decorating.  Since I have an obsessive-compulsive knitting habit, it only made sense to feed some of my Christmas zeal into my knitting.

A while back, I made a pair of stuffed owls. They are adorable and silly looking creatures that have been sitting in the corner of the room staring wide-eyed at anyone in the room.

It only seemed right that they should be properly dressed for Christmas. So I crocheted them a couple of festive hats.

Here they are rocking around the Christmas tree.DSC_0908

Clearly the owls are in the Christmas spirit now.  So I introduced them to the tiny snowman I knitted. DSC_0902

I think they are jealous because he has a scarf, too.  DSC_0899 DSC_0900

I think they’re getting along alright, though.  The pattern for the owl can be found here.  The original pattern is for a much larger owl – pillow-sized.  I made smaller ones by simply using smaller needles and yarn.

I  made the snowman pattern up. He was easy and fun and looks snug and warm in his little hat and scarf.

Also, his name is Stuffy.

So aside from hats and scarves and mittens and blankets, I am also making hats for stuffed animals.

Because I’m a grown up and I can.
